SOFWOLF 2018 ‘True Grit’ in Tetons National Park
Our program this year will be in the great Teton National Park at the base of the Tetons themselves. We are working with the Teton Science Schools (https://www.tetonscience.org/) to provide students back country hiking, canoeing, navigation skills, resume and career development, and much more.
Below is a Tentive Schedule of the event:
Day 1 – Arrival, Resume Review and Orientation – Welcome, Linkedin/SOFWOLF resume review, Mentors
Day 2 – Campground/Inside Tetons. Knowing Your Team, Target, and Limits- Hiking in Grand Teton National Park, develop group norms, assess fitness of group, acclimate to elevation, map and compass work.
Day 3 – Campground/Inside Tetons. Communication and Awareness of Self, Others, and Place – Team Challenge ‘Blind’ Canoeing in Grand Teton National Park; Afternoon Planning and Preparing for a backcountry expedition, BC skills rodeo; evening camp out.
Day 4 – Backcountry Base Camp: Team Challenge Lead and Follow, Follow and Lead: Set points or caches to teach others how to lead and support leader for each step in the trail.
Day 5 – Backcountry Grit and Resilience – Breakout groups and summit attempt
Day 6 – Backcountry Integrity - Summit attempt or day 2 of progressive travel with swimming holes reprieves
Day 7 – Campground Applying Backcountry and Mentor Lessons to Career Path - Return from backcountry, Team Challenge “Amazing Race”. Dinner Talk with SOFWOLF Speaker and Awards Ceremony.
Day 8 - Departure
